CLINICAL PERSPECTIVE

Individual surgical planning

Assessment includes the cause of ptosis, MRD1, levator function, eyelid closure and ocular surface. Blepharoplasty does not replace ptosis repair.

We discuss anatomy, indications, alternatives, limitations, scars, anaesthesia and recovery. Website information does not replace individual assessment.

Planning your procedure

The method depends on the cause of ptosis and eyelid-elevator function. Discuss under- or overcorrection, asymmetry, incomplete closure and dry eye; corneal protection is central to planning.

Recovery and follow-up

Aftercare considers the ocular surface, eyelid closure and visual symptoms. Sudden visual loss, severe pain or rapidly increasing swelling need urgent medical assessment.

Procedure considerations and risks

Anaesthesia, bleeding, infection and wound healing are also discussed for any surgery. Your individual risks and alternatives are reviewed during consultation.

Questions to discuss

  1. What would you like to change?
  2. What features would you like to preserve?
  3. Which risks and limitations matter most to you?

Your surgical plan, expected changes and recovery steps are agreed with you during consultation.

Prepared by Dr. Mismil Muradov, plastic and reconstructive surgeon. The surgical plan is determined during consultation. Training and qualifications →
